Shop My Depop

Hi peeps

Well I just had to tell you about my Saturday. i decided to take a train to London and check out the Shop My Depop Event at Dalston Pier. I have to admit, i went because I just had to meet Tess Holliday. She has become some what of an idol for me. I completely admire her for what she is doing to the fashion industry and to all of us adverse folks self esteem. Finally there are so many types of beauty and they are all being recognised!!

Yes, it is true. The is all hers!

Ok so now back to my point. This shop my Depop event. It showcased stock from many well known Bloggers, Depoppers and basically boss, slaying babes.

I was able to rummage through the racks of Felicity Hayward, Michaela Gingell, Philomena Kwao, and the amazing Tess Holliday

Busy from the beginning

Chanel Boateng was also meant to be there and I was absolutely gutted when she wasn't. One day I will meet that woman!

It was an amazing way to network, meet fellow bloggers and people influential in the plus size fashion business.

I was so glad the stock was from size 14 upwards, so i felt completely comfortable searching through clothes. For once i was able to keep my cool and keep my spending to a minimum. My first and most important reason for going was to meet and network with people, the shopping was a bonus.

After chatting by email and Facebook I finally got to meet the plus Connection's Christina Arisci
My happy place: Shopping!

I bought some fantastic jewellery felicity which will be great for the many appearances I have in the coming weeks.

Then I just had to look through Tess' rack. I managed to snap up a #Eff your beauty Standards' T shirt and some edgy rock chick jewellery.

I was so happy with my T shirt especially, I love the Eff your beauty Standards Campaign and everything it stands for. Beauty isn't just the conventional model beautiful force fed to us for so long. It comes in so many forms.

I will wear this with pride

What was my OOTD you ask? Well I kept it simple with by Boohoo black maxi shirt, split sides of course, some black leggings and my favourite white waterfall waistcoat from Bow Chic.

This woman is everything! she is my inspiration and i was so honoured to meet her! I had to make sure i was

Want any of these, well just click on the links and logos and you'll be taken to the sites.

I had an amazingly fun time, and can't wait for the next time!

Until next time Peep! Keep Slaying!!

OOTN - Miss Caribbean UK Final

Hi Peeps

How's it been. Well today, albeit a little late I am going to show you my outfit from Saturday night.
I went to the Miss Caribbean UK final, to show some support for my fellow island girlies.

Bow Chic kindly put together a laid back but cool outfit for me to wear. I got to wear this bad boy!!

This Leopard print oversize shirt, legging combo. I have never worn animal print, so I had reservations when they suggested this to me. But then they mentioned bling, and I was sold.

I put it on, slapped some make up on and then took some pics, for them to see how it looked on. WOW! My inner goddess was unleashed!
I stood taller and felt sexy! Even an oversize top made me feel this way.

I am wearing size 22 top and leggings, so i felt completely comfortable. I live in leggings so had no problems with these.

You can see in this picture that the light is shining on the stones to give it a bit of glamour.

I paired this with some simple, gin metal jewellery and black boots. The outfit was the star of this show. The cut of this gives a great care free laid back look, but the pop of twinkle dressed it up nicely.

This outfit amazed me. I do have to say, you have to be careful with the stones when washing the top, as there is the risk they will fall off.

I love oversize, but on if there is a way to show of the shape of parts of my body, so pairing the legging with this, instead of trousers was a huge plus.

This outfit is also so versatile. you can split the suit up and wear either the top or leggings as that extra pop to any other jean, begging, jumper, blouse combo. I would recommend going with statement but understated coloured jewellery o compliment it. To much colour or too much bling will be just doing the most!

All I have left to say on this outfit is that it brought out my in strength and fierceness. The print made me feel like a goddess. But the sparkles, brought out my inner sparkle. The sparkle of my self confidence.

I you wear this kind of two piece, you need to own it. Own it good! I didn't let people watching me get to me, I just owned it and strut.

In a good light, you can see the stones sparkle to give you a little spotlight of you very own. I will definitely be wearing this again and so grateful to Bow Chic for sending this to me!

Check out their Facebook page for this and other items. Link in the side bar to the right!

Release you strength and sparkle!

Until next time Peeps!!

Crochet Braids Are Back!

Hey Peeps,

So I has a couple of weeks of having my hair in the open, but last week I thought it was high time the fro went back to sleep.

Thursday I headed back to the salon and decided to stick with what like. Little did I know, Crochet braids don't have to be only super curly hair! It was a good thing I didn't bring my own hair.

I went for this effortless wavy look and love it!

Journey from Fro to Un-beweavable!
This time they gave me an invisible parting, so the knots are not visible. It looks like i just have a weave. I had no idea I could have this sort of style and not have to go with a sew in!

The braids are so versatile. I can have them up in a ponytail, side braid, top knot . Anything really.
They done such a good job with them, I couldn't be happier.

OK I had an itchy scalp so that's why I have the tousled look!
They are so easy to maintain. I found the curly ones had me twisting and detangling every day for at least 30 mins. IT got a bit much in the end. Sometimes you just want to sloth. With this style, I just brush it and put it in a bun for the night.

They are easy to sleep in and easy to just get up and go. I wrap a satin scarf around my hairline, to protect it. I use a satin bonnet over it to protect the weave. They are unusually easy to sleep in.

In the morning I literally, unwind the bun shake it out, finger detangle and go about my business. These are definitely a winner.

swept to the side to give an extra sleek look for a glam night

I had an event to go to on Thursday and of course spent so much time on my make up, I left none to do my hair.

I just brush my hair to the side, added a bit of smoothing serum (GHD) and clipped the back to have a swept glam look.

I felt so glamorous. In this picture I am wearing a Boohoo Plus, Navy deep v neck maxi dress. I decided the event wasn't the kind to wear the v next to the front (I am blessed there so maybe not). Instead I flipped the dress and my necklace to make it a backless number.

The dress was so affordable, but made me feel like an A lister!!

After a night out, they still look on fleck!

Of course, I wouldn't be me with a 'Feeling myself' selfie They held up so well considering I hadn't brush them for 8 hours.

Still slaying after midnight. No matting, tangling or any comprise to the hair.

These Crochet Braids are purely synthetic hair, but they look so natural.

Glam hair for a fraction of the cost

It's now been over a week since they were installed, and they still look like I just stepped out of the salon. The real test is the test of time, but with care and attention, these should last me until my roots look ratchet.

I will definitely have these done again, only with an ombre effect. I'm thinking violet ombre. What to you think???

Like the look? Why not check out Revelation hair and beauty.  Click here to see all their different treatments.

Until next time peeps!!

Finally Got It!!

Hey Peeps!

you all know I'm a bargain queen and I love me cheap and cheerful buys, including make up! Well I caved. For ages I wondered how Urban Decay would look on my toffee skin.

When I modelled at Suffolk Fashion Week, the beautiful Hayley Sparkes used the naked palette on me. I loved the shadow on my lids. It was gorgeous!

Today I headed to Bury St Edmunds to do some 'Christmas shopping'. Went to Debenhams with the best intentions and everything. Oh well hello Urban Decay. What was that? 10% off prices? Well let's take a look. Wait what? Naked smoky marked down and 10% off? Well I'm only human!

Yep I bought it! The most expensive beauty purchase of my life, but I had a sneak peak at the palette and it is well worth my broke-ness! I will be using it for my appearance at the 'Stars of Norfolk'

Watch this space for my Naked Smoky eye look xx

I'm a Bow Girl!!! - My Love and support for bow chic

Hey Peeps, what is good! (I don't even know what I just said!)

Anyhow, I have more amazing new.

This past week has been crazy! But now I have a HUGE announcement.

I am officially a Bow Girl! If you read my review of Bow Chic's jumpsuit/waistcoat combo, you will know who I am talking about.

Bow Chic are a new fashion retailer, catering to pretty much all sizes! YES I MEAN ALL!! Sizes 6-32.

They are amazing when it comes to staying on trend. I mean they told me this morning that they have maxi jumpers in!! I have not been able to find a maxi jumper for love nor money.

Bow Chic Waterfall Waistcoat

I rocked the waterfall waistcoat at the Stars of Suffolk Awards last week!

I am so happy to be a Bow Girl. We have built an amazing relationship and I am 100% behind them. I am not one to just take up an offer wherever I can, I really look at the company and whether I would actually buy from them.

Add a bit of Va Va VOOOOOM!!

Bow Chic's clothing is to die for. (I have a million reviews to post on here, so keep an eye out!). They have anything from smart trouser suits, casual tops and leggings...

Shawl Coat

Warm, Comfy outerwear

Customised Peplum Dress

To Super sexy party-wear

They have items I never think I will ever find in my size. When you are plus size it's hard to get your heart set on something, in case you can not find it in your size. Being a size 20, I will trawl through racks and at the rare occasion I find something, it is not true to it's size. It just doesn't fit. That just sicks

Aw I need this Gilet in my life!

Whenever I have bought from Bow Chic, I have never been disappointed. Of course not every item is in all sizes, but they are clear, when they advert about the sizes they have and will try their best to accommodate.

Then as an added plus, they will customise clothes brought from them, to dress them up! I am in the process of having an outfit customised ready for the Miss Caribbean UK final!

Please head over to their Facebook page Bow Chic. Like and take a look at the clothes, trust me you won't resist!

Better still, to celebrate my new bow girl status, there is a 3 platform social media competition where you can win an item from their stock, of your choosing. I am so happy! Shame I can't enter!

Check it out, buy some awesome clothes and check out the adverts for the new range!!

Maxi jumpers are on sale!!

Until next time Peeps xxx

I've been Blown out! - My Keratin 'Brazilian Blowout' Experience

Hi Peeps

So as we know I have had my Fro out for about a week. I wanted to hibernate it for the winter, but I felt I needed a protein treatment to strengthen my hair before I tuck it back into tree braids.

So I booked an appointment and on Thursday I had a Keratin hair treatment. It was perfect timing considering I also had to attend an event that night!

For those who don't know a keratin treatment I basically a protein treatment which also straightens the hair. It uses heat and product to straighten the hair shaft and in effect strengthen it. The heat helps to open the strands (not the technical term, but i am no hairdresser!) so the protein can be absorbed to the max.

My hair loves this treatment, and even though it affects my curl pattern, the benefits out way this negative. Besides the affects only last 3 months maximum. I have this done twice a year now I am natural, but when i was transitioning, I had this done right on the 3 month mark. I still believe this is why I have no breakage issues and my hair grows so quickly.

Anyways, here are the results and as promised my 1 year natural length check!

My hair straight is about an inch past my collar bone. It hasn't been that long for a very long time! I decided to curl the hair to go to the event, but I can't believe how thick my hair has gotten!

It's a bit dark but you can see from the ends the thickness!
The difference from my relaxer is crazy!

Compare it to the whispie ends from my relaxers!
But this is only going to be straight for a week, until I tuck the hair back in to a protective style!

No Make Up, Make Up Look

Well hello there peeps!

Not to sound narcissistic, well OK maybe a teenie weenie bit. Over the last few months I have had more compliments about my skin than I've had compliments in general my whole life. Now I would love to chock it up to healthy eating and good genes, but there seems to be a pattern. I only seem to get these compliments when I've put make up on. So I must be doing something right, and if that's the case, It would be wrong not to share it right?!

So here is my everyday (well when I feel like making myself up for the daytime) no make up, make up look!
yes that's a caved in ceiling, courtesy of my pops!

Skin care is KEY!!

You without a doubt need to start with a great base. I am lucky that when i was growing up, I didn't really have much of an acne problem, so I have little blemishes. This doesn't mean I don't take great care of the face though!
I'm a great believer that its all about your lifestyle, so I mostly keep to healthy fats, iron rich foods. I also love my smoothies (recipes in my lifestyle blog!). I always add Flax seed to my smoothies which is amazing for your hair and skin.

Anyways I keep my skin care regime simple. I wash with luke-warm water, use a perfume free sensitive skin friendly face wash, then since with cold water to close the pores.

I use Shea or Cocoa butter based moisturisers after. If I;m a little dry I like to use a tiny bit of pure Shea butter.  That is literally all I do!

I do this daily. Weekly I will use a nose strip to rid myself of blackheads.

ON TO THE MAKE UP!!!

Apply Benefit Dr Feelgood to my T-Zone and apples of my cheeks. I get pretty oily so I really can't skip this step. Dr feelgood is amazing to tame the oil and lasts all day long!

Then I go on to the brows. It's the same way I always do them, so if you want to know what I use, check my other post on Oktoberfest.

Prime time! I use Maybelline baby skin for my tone, erase any pores and smooth that skin. for the rest of my face I use cheap but effective George face primer.

Colour correction. I use LA girl orange colour correct for under my eyes, round the bottom of my nose and my chin. It evens out any dark areas on my face.

I then use a flat top Kabuki brush and dot some tinted moisturiser as my foundation. I hate using foundation or a normal day look so I use the Elf tinted moisturiser in Espresso. I stipple it all over my face, including over my eyes, paying close attention to where I have placed colour correction. I leave the under eyes!

Time to Highlight the crap out of my skin. Again I apply concealer and powder as I've told you before in my MOTN post. I won't bore you with it again.

I go over with the beauty blender on my lid, then set it with my usual face powder (L'Oreal pure match).

Then I  bronze my face to snatch it. I don't like to contour for a day look so I just use my usual Sunkissed Dark bronzer as a contour and to also warm my skin.

Blush, I swap from coral, to orange toned depending on the time of year. Right now I love a pinky orange tone!
EOS lip balm, organic and natural

You can never forget the highlighter! I use my fave Revolution highlighter. It's a great champagne colour in the tub, but on the face its a gorgeous Gold tone. I highlight the tip on my nose, Cheekbones, between the eyes, inner corners of the eyes, brow bone, above the brow arch and cupids bow.

I think add some EOS strawberry lip balm to make the lips kissable and I'm done!!

I use this as a everyday look but also the base of most of my glass looks. I will just switch up to foundation for more coverage.

What do you think! I love the flawless no make up look!!

Natural Hairversary! One whole year Natural!

Hey my people!!

So it has been a minute since I've posted, I have been stuck with Man Flu (yeah, I know, I'm a woman, I should suck it up. But I'm a baby!)

Now I'm back and ready to post again! A Facebook memory reminded me that this week is my hairversary! It has been a whole year since by big chop, after 9 months transitioning. A whole year being completely natural! I can't believe it!

So this week I thought it was about time I took out the Crochet braids and see what I'm working with.

I'm so amazed with the growth I had to share it with you all!

So here is a year of Natural hair!

BIG CHOP!!
After transitioning for 9 months, enough was enough, I wanted to be natural already. I headed to my hairdressers and told her to chop it. That she did!

1st wash and go
Day one of being completely natural. Shrinkage is no joke. My hair looks only 1/2 an inch long!

February 2015 - 1 year post relaxer, 3 months fully natural
In February, my hair was finally long enough to do a twist out. I was so happy with my first attempt

June 2015 - another twist out
I protected my hair for a few months with tree braids. It made such a difference to the length. I had to do another twist out!

starting to look like Richard prior!
In September my hair was getting to the awkward Richard prior length. Twist outs didn't have the same umph. I started to despair and contemplate a relaxer again

hair up and a full glam face!
Luckily I was able to put my hair in a ponytail, but it looked tiny, so needed the help of a Afro off wig. Love the results!

Wash and go! where did all this hair come from!!
After 2 months of Crochet braids, the length of my hair is unbelievable my hair is now chin length curly. I love my natural curl and I love my fro!!

Will be doing a straight hair length check this week, before I tuck the fro back in for the winter with tree braids!

Watch out for my length check!!

Until next time xx

Crochet Braids: Protective Style Winter

What is up everyone.

So this year I have been on a mission to take really good care of my curls. I quickly found that protecting my hair front he elements is just as important as a good deep conditioner, de-tangling, or wrapping it up at night.

So last month I put the curls to bed for the winter and got some crochet braids done. I was kinda in two minds about it all because it's the first time I have tried this style, especially because it's so curly. But, I went to Revelation in Ipswich, sat in the hair throne and watched the magic happen! I instantly fell in love!

I mean look at this hair. How could I not love it!!
Now it's been 6 weeks and I thought I would share with you how I take care of them. I have to say I would be able to keep them in for far longer, if it wasn't for these damn edges and roots. They are looking real ratchet!

week 3 of the Crochet. My hair grows so quickly!

So here is how I take care of these bad boys!

From day 1 I have been very careful with how I wrap my hair at night. It makes the difference between on fleck to oh hell 2 day naw.

I done some serious YouTube researching and found Taste Pink she is a crochet braid Guru and I couldn't have a clue without her videos!!

I literally follow her steps other than adding a few additions to tailor to my own hair needs.
Yes I know I look like 'Hi Felicia' but hey means to and end!

So I like to treat my weave, even when it's synthetic hair like it is just my natural hair. To adapt her method I alternate leave in conditioner and smoothing serum. I suggest just using you favourite. So I use either Keracare leave in or Cantu Shea Butter leave in. For a smoothing serum, I like Argan oil based one and just go with whatever I am using at the time. I like to change it up a bit.

I only use these products a few times a week and never at the same time. It is just took much product for this hair. I simply smooth a tiny amount to the hair when I have de-tangled and then twist it up. It's as simple as that really.

I have to wash the scalp as it will just smell from working out, so fortnightly I use a small amount of shampoo in a spray bottle mixed with water. I section and twist the braids, get in the shower and spray the scalp, massage and rinse. Try not to use water which is too hot and keep getting the braids wet to a minimum. Then I go in with essential oils to sooth the scalp.

I use oils to stop any itching and love Argan or coconut oil.

I can't stress enough how important it is to have a good night time routine. Its definitely why mine have last so long without getting matted.

I love this style. It's so versatile. I can have it in so many styles and I just can't get enough of it!

swept to one side

low bun with swept fringe

side ponytail for a easy breasy look

But alas I can not have these forever and want to change it up a bit. I just don't know how.

SO I am coming to you. Comment on tho post whether I should go for tree braids with human hair or a lace front wig. Whichever has more, will be the one I go with! In a few weeks I will let you know what I went with.

Until next time!!
